Annie began writing her truth, as many of us do, as a young person in her secret journal. It wasn't until 2000 that she developed the courage needed to publish her writing. "The Opening" was her first essay published in Heron Dance. From there she wrote essays and conducted interviews. Her writing is often earnest and raw as she strives to communicate her truth.
